Plus can someone who understands such things confirm or reject something I believe I was told a long time ago. Namely that storm rain is good for the garden because the heat of the lightening can increase the nitrogen content of the rainwater???

  1. Yes, lightning can cause a chemical reaction where the nitrogen in air is converted in ammonium ion which gets precipitated out along with the rain and acts a natural fertilizer.

  2. really hot, and dunno...lol

  3. Riyerv is correct... lightning can reach up to 55,000 degrees F, just over 30,000 degrees C, and the air quality will impact the water quality significantly.   Good job Riyerv...

  4. About 10,000 degrees C or 18,000 F, that's twice as hot as the surface of the sun. Can't answer you other question sorry.

  5. It is around 30,000 C, and yes lightning does produce nitrogen compounds, however the rainwater will depend on air quality in the area that it falls.

  6. and that temperature is determined by looking at the color spectrum of the light emitted by the lightning
