I assume u mean a Lan based modem.

U will be able to change these connections from

1.ControlPannel->InternetConnections

2.RtClk on ur modem connection icon & clk properties

3.In the new window select Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) &

      clk properties button

4.The window that appears will have the properties u want to

      set.

5.To be able to set values u must bullet the

     Use the following IPADDRESS option.

(Give ur modem model & OS  if this does not work)

Modem is the default gateway it cannot be changed but you can change the modems IP address in the modem control panel.

You can change the subnet mask in the modem control panel. But you will have to set up all devices attached to it to use the same subnet mask.

If you have a dynamic IP Service (Most likely) just unplug your modem for like 10-30minutes and your IP will change.

If you give me your modem model I might be able to go into more detail.

under normal condition type 192.168.1.1

user name & pass word you must know as admin

go to adv setup and edit 0/35 row

this is typically a utstar modem configuration
