  1. Your environment may not be healthy for you. Stay away from negative things and people. Your choices in movies, books and music may also have an affect on you. Change your surrounding to a more positive one. Clear your mind of clutter. If you home/sanctuary it cluttered and busy so will your mind be.

Look for the nice things they are always around too. Take note of the little things that make you happy and spend a little more time enjoying it. Take note of the things that make you unhappy and spend less time around it.

  2. Mentally tough is not the way. Not even mentally is the way. Anger, lust AND the mind are given by nature. And if you are to do this with the mind, tough or otherwise, how is the mind to control the mind?  Mind can only be stopped, and only by that which was before it, and is therefore beyond it; it can then see through it, but certainly in quite another but a tough way.

  3. Acknowledge that there is an infinite, qualitative difference between a divine and a human nature, and as a creature whose essential nature is human, the best disposition for you to cultivate is humility.

  4. As an artist of drawing "Gothic"and other weird pictures, here's what works for me.1 some social life, friends hanging out, little distractions.2 channel negative feelings to other things.i took martial arts because i had major anger issues, and they teach you to deal.3 lust is a different story, and since my ex considered me a sexual deviant,i wouldn't know.maybe you should try dating?4 try painting.the art world will buy any thing, trust me i know....and you get to rage it out in painting.and the girls will think your one of those deep artists types.ohhhhh.5 you like cars?build a street legal badass.it takes time, and money but you will be to busy thinking about the parts you ordered to be angry.unless you slam your hand in the door....6 yoga.girls are in yoga class.you will cleanse your mind and body, and meet chicks.good luck to you,and don't let it control you.you control it!

  5. It sounds like you have to work with your mind as that is the core of it all.

I believe that your anger is from your lack on control. Thus you may have a larger problem as the world may not revolve around you.

Lust are impure thoughts from your mind.  If you noticed that lustful thoughts never occured until you watch all of these lustful movies.  The fact is  you have been learning and replaying all of these thoughts over and over in your mind and to a point where they become an impulse.

So you will have to relearn everything and imagine as you will what fits best in each situation. Replay those images and thoughts over in your mind.   It will take time  but since when is modifying your impulses is easy...

  6. I must say that for a Philosophy Honors Student you have not learned much about the nature of being human. What kind of "toughness" do you want in your mind besides the toughness to know your epistemological logic is certain enough to win most arguments, or to achieve the answers to the questions of whatever profession you put your talents to?

Why do you have anger? Since you obviously must understand epistemology, go ask an Epistemic Psychologist for help. We are just bystanders wondering why an Honors Student asks such questions of us.

  7. 1.  Right understanding. Understand the mind. You are NOT the mind. You are above mind. As it is the mind is controlling you. But you CAN take charge, you can regain control. The mind is like the horses pulling the charriot. You are the rider. Do you want to sit back and let the horses pull you this way and that way OR do you want to hold the reigns tight and take control of the horses and the charriot ?

    2.  Anger is what happens to you when you internalise external events. I am sitting here saying very nasty things about you but you don't get angry. Now I get a little closer to you and say the same nasty things. Now you can hear and you get very angry. See the psychology ? The action in both cases is the same but the result differs. So, the answer is not to internalise the external event. The thing is happening outside. You don't bring it into your system. Let it remain outside. Then it won't affect you. A nasty man is walking on the street outside your house. You see him. Don't invite him into your house. Then he won't hurt you. As soon as anger arises, try to understand  that it's not you. You are NOT anger. See how the anger arises in you. Understand the mechanism. Look at it. Don't entertain it and then see how it dissipates. It's like waves in the ocean, rising and falling. Practise is needed, my friend.

    3.  Lust is of the body. Very difficult to control. Rather than 'control' you must learn to 'channel' lust. The only way to 'win' lust is to first win the mind. Once you take control of the mind, you take control of the body. Once you are in control of the body then you can decide what to give and what not to give to the body. Then you will know where to place lust.

    4.  To become mentally tough you have to meditate. Learn how to calm the mind, learn how to focus your thoughts and channel your energies. We are weak because our thoughts are dragging us in all directions. We are not in control of our thoughts. Thoughts are arising all the time and we act according to our thoughts. We have not learnt how to harness our thoughts and make then work for us, instead of us always working for them. We cannot stop thoughts from arising but we can stop entertaining them. As we continually stop entertaining negative thoughts and only entertain good, positive thoughts, gradually the negative thoughts will cease to arise. This is what meditation does. Thoughts are like the people walking on the public road in front of your house. You cannot stop them from walking on the public road past your house but you can certainly stop inviting them into your house and entertaining them. Remember, thoughts have energy, thoughts are very powerful.

  8. Emotions are natural. Everybody have the whole range of them. When you have a disturbind thought, push it aside gently. "Change the subject" to a more pleasant one, like a nice memory, a good friend, etc. With practice it will become easier and you will be in control. Thoughts sometimes have an obsessive tendency of coming back when we try to push them away too hard.

If you want to have peace of mind, never allow evil to enter into this world through your hands. Do this as a matter of principle. Be kind with yourself. Be kind to others. Control yourself. And feel proud of you because of that. Again, do this as a matter of principle.

The world is big and full of beauty. Get out and explore it.

  9. The key to controlling your mind is to make your peace with it. Stop thinking of it as some rogue element that needs to be controlled. Anger, Lust etc are all human elements  and if you just curb them, you're going to be nothing but a vegetable which, sure as h**l is not what God intended for you, because if it were, then he would have made you a vegetable. So express them, but in a way that would least harm others. Great people did not get that way, by curbing every thing they had, but by finding creative ways to express them that proved beneficial to the world as a whole. For example, when the random guy on a street sees a hot girl walking by, he just wolf whistles her, but when a Sheakespeare or a Picasso sees her, he goes home and writes or paints something beautiful. That is why they are what they are and the random guy remains random. Plus there are no such things as useless thoughts, just listen to them and you'll know
