I know they are nourished by the mother's food through the umbilical cord, but if they're nourished isn't there waste as well?

  1. there is waste, and it is called meconium (SP?) and they can have a bowel movement in the womb.. from either fetal stress, or going over the due date, the baby will often have a bowel movement as well.. as for peeing? they always pee.. they drink the fluid that surrounds the baby, and the pees it out into the fluid, and drinks it again.. it isn't waste so it isn't bad for them.. it actually nourishes them..

  2. There is a connection between the baby's bladder and umbilical cord called the urachus.  The waste flows out through the umbilical cord and is eliminated with the mother's waste.  The urachus disappears before the baby is born. The bay does accumulate some poo in the intestines called meconium.  It is a very dark sticky substance that the baby then eliminates in it's first couple diapers.

  3. there is no poo. if the baby poos inside you it is very bad. the pee comes out of the baby and into the amniotic fluid and the baby 'drinks' it
