Question:

How (if possible) to repair worn spots on a chair?

I got a little nostalgic for my childhood one day last fall, and decided to buy a Thomasville Ascot chair off of Craig's List with "some small, barely noticeable worn spots" on it. Oh, silly me. The chair was delivered from Long Island with large worn, black spots. Now I have a an otherwise beautiful sage green chair that I would hate to throw away, and would prefer not to put a slip cover over. Are there any options for repairing the fabric where these bald spots are?

  1. I'm not sure what an Ascot chair is, but I am thinking that you should be able to slipcover it.

Try the below link, or Pennys has good prices on slipcovers too.  Also, if is something that you actually sit in often, you may want to look at 2 piece slipcovers.  The one piece slipcovers always bunch up and come untucked.

    Good luck.

  2. All you can really do to make it look halfway decent is to take it to a professional restorer to be reupholstered.

Let this be a lesson -- ask for pictures before you buy ANYTHING from afar.

  3. You can simply change the fabric and replace it with new fabric I did this before and the new fabric makes the world of difference
