  1. Unless you have component cables or HDMI you cant have high defination.. .So that would make it pretty important. What are you trying to ask? Are you talking about the quality of cables?

  2. Do not use anything less than component (such as composite, s video). Personally I didn't notice much difference between component and vga/dvi so I don't think its a big deal. Haven't looked at HDMI yet.

  3. they're pretty much the lowest good hi-def cables you should use... HDMI is much better

  4. If you do not have HDMI or DVI then they are absolutely essential for HD. They are the only analog connection which carries HD other than VGA. DVD players and cable /sat boxes don't have VGA on them so...

If you do not have Comp,DVI, HDMI or VGA connections you do not get HD.

  5. They were important, but not anymore... HDMI has better definition now.

component cables used to be important because of low loss of definition and the signal (analog) was split to send color and light to improve the quality of the image and can handle definitions up to 720P

HDMI send digital signal that has almost none loss of data and handle definitions up to 1080P.

  6. They're important if you don't have an HDMI connection.  Component video will give you 1080i resolution which is ideal unless you have a 1080p HDTV and either an HD-DVD player or Blu-Ray player.
