  1. i had both of my parents and my life ended up alright, but my husband didn't have either parent and he was raise by his grandmother. he ended up alright but he said he wouldn't want his kids to grow up like he did. kids need any caring person in the home to care for them. that's all they need is love. I think that makes a difference.

  2. Crucial! More important than any other factor in my opinion. If a parent can be home with the kids, then that's the best option.

From article in first link given:

Research has proven that most school aged children spend almost seventy percent of their time outside of school. That's a large amount of time spent in unsupervised activities. Do you know where or what your child is doing during those hours? Are you actively involved in their activities; their life? The earlier you get involved with your child's life them better and more powerful the effects are. Understanding how important you are in the life of your child and their success is vital to their survival. The most powerful and effective forms of parent involvement are things that engage parents in working directly with their child on learning activities at home. Here are some statistics to show you the importance of parent involvement:

•Lack of parent involvement is one of the biggest problems facing the public school system today.

•Parent involvement has helped students increase test scores and graduation rates.

•Parent involvement has increased the number of children attending schools and decreased the number of absences.

•Parent involvement increases motivation and improves self esteem.

•Parent involvement has decreased the use of drugs, alcohol, and violent behavior.

  3. hello,parent's play thebig

gest rolen a child's life because there is so much to be taught to them, and me as a real mother i'de rather be the one to be my child's teacher out of school because it's so much darogatory and mischeivious things happening out there in the streets today, and there's some manipulative people that ars doing the worst of things to children these days-so your best bet is to take heed that GOD takes care of them but he also gave of knowledge to have common sense to know we have to raise our children the best and hardest we know how,it should'nt be a question about importancy of being in a kid's life...........you can also go to the website (www.parenting.com),so you can find answers to you wondering...

  4. I think this depends on the parent.  I have a mother and a father both of them raised me but niether of them were there for me.

I found myself as a adult begging them (in my own little way) to love me...

They continued after years of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse as a child.    Even as a adult they still abuse me emotionally.  3 years ago I finally became so sick of begging and so angry with them.  I almost hate them...  I want nothing more to do with them for the rest of my life or thiers.

The affect in my oppion result in LOW SELF ESTEEM.  I could not even begin to tell you ever ripple that comes from a low self esteem...
