From my experience ( i just graduated in the spring and had several job offers) it is fairly important, but more of a range than anything. The firm will likely have a range in mind (eg 3.0 and up) and then narrow it down that way. However there are alot of other aspects that are just as important.

i graduated with a 3.6 gpa. and i am a poor, broke, on the verge of being homeless, loser.

so the 3.6 didnt do much for me.

GPA may open the door, but you still have to show that you can add something to the company. Some companies are overly impressed by high GPAs, but all that that really shows is that you were a good student. It does not demonstrate the ability to work well with others, or critical reasoning abilities, or ability to write and communicate effectively. GPA may be more important in some fields, and less in others.

Again, the good GPA may open some doors, but it is what you do once inside that will either WOW them or turn them off.

It depends on the company. The companies that care about things like GPA tend to hire only those entry level employees who had a GPA of a 3.0 or above.

I can also depend on the field that you plan to enter. Some fields, such as certain types of consulting, are highly GPA sensitive, and you won't be looked at by some firms unless your GPA is above a certain point - sometimes a 3.0, but more often higher than that.

But most companies won't care what your GPA was, so long as you went to an okay school and graduated.

Not very, people are interested in your credentials, so if you have the degree, you have it.

I dont believe most jobs look at your GPA when you graduate. Having the degree, qualifications & references will be what they primarily look at.
