Our last name starts with a G so that means we spell something if the middle name is an "A" LOVE Nathan Alexander but I don't know if saddling my child with the initials NAG is a very nice thing! My DH says this is probably a bigger deal if we have a daughter....thoughts?

  1. My sons first and middle initial are QT and nobody has ever noticed and he is 15. But if you are uncomfortable with the initials then he will be and you should not use those names.

    I like Alexander Nathan.

    also like

    Quinn Alexander

  2. Nathan Alexander is a great name. I like it. Like someone already said, give him another middle name. Somthing short though.

  3. I don't think many people give people's initials much thought. Also, a lot of the time people don't even know what your middle name is. I think that if you really love Nathan Alexander, you should go with it! I really like it too!

  4. THEY ARE A HUGE DEAL! my name is BAYLIE BROOKE S.    if you do the full initials its BBS but in school they would say just your first and last inital so it was BS ----people say BS as in bull***t.

I got teased quite a lot!

  5. I think its as big of deal as you make it.  I don't really find any problem with it unless it spells out something vulgar taht could easily be make fun of like : BJ or s*x or Vaj  something liek that.  NAG i dont think is very bad and i dont think its bad enough for kids to catch on unless they see it actually sitting out like that.  Plus, how many people really know other people's middle names??

  6. I think you're alright naming your son that. Nice name by the way.

  7. Ha! Our surname also starts with a G.

We know we would like our third daughter to be called Meg, and are pondering over giving her a middle name beginning with 'E' so her initials would be MEG too......lol...

If you are worried about NAG (I would be too!) then maybe give him an extra middle name too? Just a thought.

  8. I never have felt that initials were a big deal - you can always monogram where the G is in the middle anyways! Like nGa

If you love the name Nathan Alexander - use it!

  9. i dont think its too important at all.

    some people do.

my husband and i fell in love with a name, but when he realized it spelled out "A.S.S.", he wanted to change the middle name right away saying that kids will make fun of her at school.

i obliged, but seriously, if kids are going to make fun of you, theyll think of ways to make fun of you, initials or not.

  10. It's not a big deal. There are so many other things that can be worse.

  11. Alexander Nathan flows better!!

Most people won't know his middle name so he won't have a problem! It's really only a problem with the first and last name initials (eg. Brian Johanson [BJ]) or double barrel first names (Ryleigh-Ann Teferson [RAT] or Finnley-Alan Teferson [FAT])

  12. I have never thought it was that big of a deal but it can be funny sometimes.  It depends.  I guess if your child has wierd initials and becomes a high-powered businessman he probably won't have a lot of mongrammed cufflinks or something? I know a guy whose initals are GAS.  Since getting married and taking my husband's last name my initials are JAR.  I get a kick out of it.

  13. I think it's a matter of personal preference. some people care a lot about their initials & get everything monogrammed some don't.

    hope i helped!

  14. I don't think it is a big deal.

First, boys don't pay attention to things like initials  and middle names as much as girls do.

Second, he will sign as Nathan A. Giggle (or whatever your last name is) or  N.A. Giggle.

Third, he will initial school supplies, etc, as NG, not NAG.  If there are 2 NG's in the class, they use Nathan G.

Finally, when he intitials documents as an adult, nobody cares what the initials spell.

  15. In all reality, the funny initials with the middle name isn't that big of a deal.  And there are far worse things than NAG--it would be worse for a girl with those initials.

Story time--my full name is Bethany Jane M....So my first and middle initials are BJ...it was funny for 5 minutes in high school, and now my husband will tease me about it every once in a while, but that's the worst of it.

Nathan Alexander is a gorgeous name, you really ought to use it!!

  16. That name sounds adorable. I say name him whatever you want. I knew couple people in school that had funny initials but it was literally something that came up once or twice, was laughed about and never brought up again. I don't think it is that big of a deal. Go with your heart and name him whatever you want.
