How important is a knowledge of mathematics or science in studying Philosophy?

  1. Aristole made all of his students studied mathematics before philosophy because he said that math was the absolute truth and can not be changed. Ex. 2+2 will always equal 4 and never 5.


  2. In my opinion, in this modern day and age, due to advanced technology in the different areas of science, philosophy has been almost negated.

  3. Both are important.

    Mathematics provides rules for the application of informal and formal use of logic.

    Empiricism and the use of evidence, like science, provides ways to "prove" one's theories and hypothesis.

    Religion by contrast uses neither.

  4. Philosophy has nothing got to do with the latter two.  Philosophy is the love for knowledge, and it refers to realization and rationalization the human existence.
