I am buying a 115hp mercury outboard for my Larson 18ft. It does not have a Trim. Is this really that important or can I do without?

  1. I have a 68 same size, and no trim. I'm sure I won't miss it. My restoration of it is for getting wet and using it and less for looking at it. You can spend a lot of time and money in restoration to get it to look like the day it came out of the factory, but to what end? Mine had been converted to working and it's heavy glass is even heavier now. If I hit a rock I'd feel bad for the rock. The floor was glassed over. My Commander at the Academy was always fond of saying "A boat is a hole in the water in which one throws money". My goal is to mitigate and diminish that theory to a practical level but my goals for boating are different than many. Nice gel coating and or paint with that de-chromed look can be real sweet as we see in a lot of rebuilt autos with that personalized look.

  2. Larson boats are very heavy they were made good and strong. So trim is a major thing.
