Question:

How important is good eyesight for boxing?

I have a boxing match coming up soon and normally I wear contacts; however, I just ran out and I don't have the money to get some more.

I was wondering if I'd be fine with just taking off my glasses and going semi-blind.

If there are any, what problems could there be?

- Bad response time?

- Distorted depth perception?

  1. i think you should be better retreating from that match... you need a good eyesight to see your opponent's moves... if you'll go semi-blind... chances of winning will be lessen and there could be more damage inflicts to you...

  2. you need enough vision to clearly see your opponent in the ring. you can use soft contacts if you need to

  3. well you have to have clear vision so you dont see double or anything like that and punch around you opponent. Otherwise you just need to be able to see you opponent well enough to punch him.

  4. uhhhh pretty d**n important if you want to keep those eyes

  5. Depends on if you can hold up without your glasses. I had boxed with some guys who wear glasses and have done well without them. I once nearly knocked a guys contacts out one time sparring with him.

  6. If you can't really see you might get confused on your depth perception...

you should try training without optical wear normally just incase you get in this situation again...

it depends on how bad ur vision is

(I was in this situation for Muay Tai)

  7. I would recommend that you explain your predicament to your trainer and the match be called-off immediately.  Your depth perception may be whacked-out without the glasses.  If that's the case your goose will be cooked and you'll have your butt served to you in that ring!

    Call it off.
