How important is it 2 have a baseball manager?

Question

i kno basketball and football coaches make a big impact b/c of all the key plays there are and ****, but wat bout baseball? the only thing i would understand is the startin rotation and lineup as well as when 2 take out and bring in a certain player but what else does a manager do that is important?

Personally, I think the managers most important job is knowing his players. He has to "manage"  the players. Keep them happy and on track. You could do the rest of the stuff with a computer

Managers are EXTREMELY important. Some managers call every pitch from the bench. They signal their catcher, and the catcher tells the pitcher. Not all catchers are good enough to call their own game.

I worked for the Jays and know that either the catcher, pitcher, manager & or pitching coach studies all of the batters they could go up against before any game. But like I said, some catchers aren't worthy of calling a game and losing it for them so they leave the play calling up to the manager.

Also, every time you see a hit and run, stolen base, ect ect it was the managers call. 95% of the time anyways. Some players take it upon them selves to do something they weren't asked to do and normally get in trouble for it.

People today are bias and a lot of people don't like baseball and think it's a joke. It's not. There is a lot more to baseball that you see when working in a clubhouse. Most coaches are in ball park for 10-14 hours a day getting ready for a 3 hour game.

1. Try to imagine the Angels without Scoiscia.

2. Try to imagine the Cardinals without LaRussa.

3. Look at the Yankees this year without Joe Torre.

4. If I were a GM of a MLB club, I would want the smartest and most knowledgeable field manager I could find and give him full rein. Be sure to listen very carefully to what such a manager would want as players, and use his imput into player development.
