How important is it for 2 people to have different religious beliefs going into a relationship?

As long as both of you are open minded and accepting of each others beliefs, willing to talk about them, but unwilling to force the other into those beliefs, all should be well :)

I had friends who this happened to. Islamic boy and Christian girl. The boys parents made him break up with her because she wasn't Muslim. Make sure you take care of stuff like this before you start dating. And if you've already started, work it out asap!

But if you are determined to date each other, you can always ignore your parents pleas to break up with the person. Just make sure you are prepared to face any potential consequences.

i think it depends. If it bugs you that he is a different religion then it my not be a good idea or vice versa. but if you really like the guy then you might want to make it clear that you are not trying to change him in anyway whatsoever and go on with the realtionship. If he is really strong in his beliefs and believes that he must be with someone in his religion then you cant really do anything. But i say go for it and see what happens =]

This is a deal killer. Every young adult believes that if they love each other, they will be able to work it out. That belief is false. When you make a decision as important as this, you have to view it from a long term perspective. At this moment in time, you may not be that devout to your faith. However, what if ten years from now, you begin to develop a new love for your faith. I guarantee this new found faith will change your personality and eventually will effect your decisions. Those changes will most likely be met with disdain by your mate.
