Question:

How important is it for a government to cater to one specific group in a society?

This is a question that's being posed for my US AP History Class... I'm just curious as to what others think. Nothing specific. Just wanna brainstorm a little. =]

  2. Not at all. This country is supposed to be a melting pot, so if one specific group doesn't want to assimilate, oh well.

  3. it is NOT important.  in fact, it is important for the government NOT to cater to anyone.

Catering to a specific group..such as let's say .. a religious group which contintually claims people hate it ... but refuse to change their ways which is why people hate it.. is stupid of any country catering to such a religion which lies about what it is and how it works.  Look up  Muhammed, Stalin, Hitler, Trotsky etc.

  5. Single issue voter groups are the reason politics are so screwed up. If you pander to the extremists you alienate yourself from the center thereby losing support.
