Question:

How important is it to live a "well rounded" life?

For instance some people have fine arts in thier lives, as well perhaps an interest in science, and for the sake of argument lets say they know how to party and have fun, they do community service, attend church or anything ritualistic, provide emotional support for people, play some kind of sport or outdoor activity, and have other hobbies. I know thats alot of stuff, but I know people that live like this. I am a simple left-brained person who feels content to have financial security. I strive to be a good person for the sake of God's judgement of me and I do care about others. Yahoo answers is my only hobby. I also exersice and do yoga. Thats about it. I'm afraid I'm boring and not getting the most out of life, but at the same time I don't feel the need to fill my life up with so much. Any thoughts?

  1. I think this question really boils down to your personal opinion. You seem quite content with what you believe in.

In my opinion, you don't need to live a well rounded life. You need to live a life YOU will enjoy - that is the most important thing. If you enjoy what you do, and have no will to do more than that, then you can live a good life.

The only reason people tell you to live a well rounded life is that it has been consistently identified by mental health experts as beneficial. They often say happiness can come from:

    - Having a purpose in life (like a job)

    - Having people who love you, and people to love

    - Having shelter, food, clean water, etc.

If you are afraid of being boring, you aren't content with what your life currently holds, so why not try something new? A new sport out of your comfort zone, or join a new club, maybe a holiday, etc.

Hope it works out! Just change your question if you'd like some more info - I'll be happy to help.
