How important is it to use pioneer home cinema system speakers in the way instructed?

i.e front right, back left etc. Does it matter? Also, can you restore 'factory settings'. How can I start againto balance everything properly?

it's important so they can work well.

it does not matter, they take a lot of time to write the instructions just so people like you can ignore them

The speakers should have colour coded wires to put in the colour coded inlets.

You should be able to do a sound test (in the menu) which will hiss through each speaker in turn (white noise). Note that words on screen match place where speaker is and swap them round if necessary.
