I didn't have time to wrap my horses legs yesterday after jumping up to 3'3, will this affect his health negatively? He's in pretty good shape and jumps regularly.

  1. This shouldnt affect his health...his legs may be swollen but just put pilliow wraps and standing wraps on this legs... and next time try to wrap his legs. You may not think it is important to but htink...they are 1,000 pound animals and they have all that weight (including ours) on those 4 tiny legs. And polo wraps help support their legs and it protects them from hitting against jumps and knocking their legs together. Hope i helped!

  2. Well, think of it this way, your horses legs are his most important piece of anatomy,  prevention is easier to do than try to fix and injury. It just takes one time and you could pop a splint, cut a leg, bow a tendon. Too many things to go wrong, always wrap.

  3. Hey

I put wraps on my horses whether we are doing flat work trotting poles or jumping over 1m+.

I think even if you dont have time just putting the front ones on are better then not having any.

It wont effect his health but if he has weak legs he could become lame from the stress get leg splints or swallon joints.

In the future to make you horse last the distance wrap even then front ones and it will help for the future.

  4. I personally think it is very important. You never want to take a chance. The horse could bump around to much one day and injur it self easily, you should especially use wraps if your trailering with other horses, because of kicking etc. you can get shipping boots which are fast and easy to put on but i would go for the actal bandages for more support. Its better to be safe then sorry!

  5. it's not really about how high you where jumping. but if the ground was hard, long time working, then yes wrapping is important. but not wrapping once won't make your horse lame oranyting.

  6. its not the health exactly....ive always been told its the cheapest insurance you can buy..... because it protects there legs.....ya you can run and jump all you want w/o them  and nothing happens and its not bad for there health....but when he steps on himself and chips a bone or even worse cripples himself....then you will be thinking ... maybe i should have booted him up.....
