  1. Aussies are far and away the best, and it all stems from our domestic Comp, it is played hard and tough, not like County cricket where you get overloaded with games, the Sheffield Shield is the best Domestic game in the world, you are only as good as your weakest link and I'm happy that English cricket is  ajoke because of the huge amount of overseas players who fill the county teams, they are of ccourse stiffling the development of a young up and coming pommie, but keep it to yourself!!!!

  2. This is only your perception. Indian and English players all are mentally strong to face any teams in the world. When you have the world class bowlers like Mcgrath, Brett, and Warne you go with some kind of assurance that these players will perform well but the other teams before they lead the home land know very well what they are up against. Can you imagine Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, or Ganguli will have sleepless nights because they have to face the next day Mcgrath and Brett? Psychology plays a role only when you have lost 7 wickets in 70 runs! We are talking about the professional cricketers, my friend.

  3. Cricket is a mind game.

Aus.r the sledgers in the world of crick.

Cool & calm nature helps in building up +ve mind & 2 maintain strong mental strength.

Psychology of team India is good- "Talk less work more" which worked in CB series 08 in Aus. against Aus.

  4. I expect that the conscious use of 'psychology', even if used by an experienced psychologist, would be so very obvious to professional cricketers that it would have no impact on a game.   The use of Australia's style of crude sledging is hardly the employment of psychology anyway .   (It is a brand of bullying, I suppose)

When a cricket team naturally feel omnipotent, incapable of bad playing, this self-confidence will probably communicate itself, and there will be psychological damage to the opposing team.  ( This, I believe, is what happens when a bowler seems to mesmerise his opposition.)

If an attempt is made, consciously made, to 'psyche out' ones opposition, I am fairly sure it would fail more often than not.   Psychology is not easy, and International cricketers are rarely stupid people!

  5. great Q Newfy !

it is extrememly important to be mentally tough and have an attitude of "never say die". you give aussies or SA a sneak and they will put you on the mat and never allow you to rise again !

It is also important to believe that you are better than the opposition and aussies use also mind games to their advantage to psyche out the opposition , lol !

it is not always cricket to start, it depends on the mode in which you start this game and the mode is linked to the psychology!

i believe Indians are offlate better psychologically with the mix of young people into the team, who have a great attitude towards the game and we will keep seeing further improvement in future , we were able to compete in Australia even with ill environment and being let down in Sydney, it indicates the strength of our guys, they could manage to get under the skin of Ponting , i have never seen Ponting so much rattled as he was seen in last series vs India, lol!

"struggle for existence and survival of the fittest"

    regards!

    best wishes!

  6. You have to be mentally strong to play against the world's best & Australia  have better than most coaching in that area. You have to go out on the field everytime saying you are going to win, not maybe. With a maybe attitude you are sure to lose. Good Q.

  7. This is a really good question.

Yer, psychology is something that must be needed in cricket. When you get selected into the national team, there's not doubt you have the talent. But nerves and pressure, expectations, they hold you back, it becomes a psychological fight that in the end will decide whether your still in the team.

In my view every player playing international cricket has the talent to be there and they're all pretty equal, but it's the way they think, there mental strength and the way they use that to become better cricketers that seperates them into the best and the rest. Psychology is a big part of cricket.

Australia have the best mental strength. There reputation alone is quite strong at psyching out opposition. That's why consistency is so important. South Africa showed their mental strength in this match, and i think we all know it's pretty strong.

  8. Great point

That is why today SA defeated the english who looked sown and out when bowling pietersen and their body language is terrible

India will never change as the new 'test players' coming in are actually from 20/20 and into ODIs like gony y.pathan gambhir

Smith' s innings is a testement to that

England's best player is pietersen and he cannot play like that

    MCkenzie Prince all good examples
