I was curious as to how important science was to young people in the world today. The reason I ask is that I feel in todays society a lot of apsects of science are becoming too advanced for some people and a lot of people are becoming disengaged or untrusting of science. What do you think?

  1. The only important thing to a young person is themself.

  2. Most young people don't care about science

even though it is very important

  3. umh. i dont' understand the answers before me.

i say its pretty d**n important.

its our future for god's sake.

    have fun♥

  4. Dude i couldn't care less about science.

  5. i think it's very important

  6. I love science.  I'm in 8th grade and I plan on having a job in science, being either chemical or aerospace engineering.  I find science really interesting but I think the hardest part will be getting into MIT =P

  7. not important at all, i mean it is b/c you can cure aids and stuff but aint my thing is just boring sorry

  8. Religion gets in the way of science, if we want to know about our World we need science to tell us how it works. The Universe is vast and surprising and we need the scientists to tell us how it all works, and then up pops a religious idiot and spoils it. If it is all down to God, how come he never shows the way but a mere scientist does.

  9. There is a lot to do with science, it just depends what part you like most. For me, it's all about the social sciences and human development.

I think people are disengaged with science because they feel it's too big of a subject in life, and they don't care to understand the world around them, because society in general is lazy and uncaring.

  10. yes i think that it is verry important to us but i dont realy like social studies, they are always trying to geed us some kind of lie. i think but that my opinion

  11. I know it's important, but science is my worst subject...

  12. incredibly important.

i'm upper 6th (year 13) at the moment, and i study biology, chemistry, physics and maths (and music).

i'm going to be a surgeon, so i'd say science is one of the most important things in my life, seeing as my whole career will be based on it.

as for becoming disengaged with science, at school, it obviously helps if the teachers are good :)

but in the real world, i guess it's probably because things aren't explained as well. i always find it really helpful when i know everything about something, not just a little bit. i agree that sometimes it can be very advanced, but in general, there are fairly simple explanations for everything :)
