  1. Sport is really important here near the alpes. Of course everybody does wintersports like skiing or icescating.  e.g. in a schoolclass of 30 students maybe only two would not know how to ski.

  2. i live in Germany and i don't see much sport going on, just lots of beer and sausage, they are all huge. but free time is really important to them, all the shops get closed on Sunday and they don't cook on a Sunday either they all go out to eat.

  4. I grew up in Germany. Sport is very important over there. When I went to secondary school I had the chance to vote sports as my main subject. We didn't just do sports, but also had theory classes combined with biology. We went swimming, sailing, we could also join different groups in the afternoon eg. basketball, tennis, athletics, gymnastics etc.

There are also loads of sports clubs you can join.

Another favourite with Germans is  9 pin bowling . Check out the website below for more information

  5. I live and work in Germany - my opinion is that  the Germans get very excited over sport. Whenever there is a sporting championship of some sort taking place - you can expect to see cars driving around with the German flag.

Children are a lot more enthusiastic to take part in sports - more so than in England. There are many sport halls in each city and always some sort of game taking place to watch or participate in.

  6. Well, I live in Bamberg. . . they love sports here and value their free time as well.  Most cities have a Enlgish language version of their home page that could provide you info potentially.

  7. i got beat up over soccer....... well kinda....nvm..... yeah sports are imporatant here but not as important as in the states and not taken as seriously. so they are not as athletic as in the states but they like to think they are more athletic... it really makes me mad sometimes too..... they also think that the Bundeswehr is better than the U.S army.... I mean wtf??ß...... there is soooo much shiit about it here but its not like in the states where we are actually good at sports... Eat that!!!   oh yeah......... i go to an American school in germany so we talk about this a lot....and its usually us making fun of their sucky skills...lol....byeeee!!!!!  and soccer doesnt count!!! losers... learn some real sports!!!!

  8. Free time and sport are important in Germany, the German Fussball league draw allot of supporters and the European and world cups will bring Germany to a halt when Germany plays. Last year during the world cup when Germany played the city was almost a ghost town, everyone was where a TV was and you could here the game because everyone was watching the same. It was incredible to walk down the street and keep up with the game because you heard it from every house you passed.

Germans love there free time. Popular thing to do is take walks visit the outdoor cafes, beer gartens, lakes, mountains and rivers. Popular sports are football (Soccer), basket ball, tennis.
