How important "authentic" to you when dining out?

would you be interested in dining at a "fusion" type restaruant? or everything "authentic" is important?

As long as the food is good, I don't care too much for authenticity of what the restaurant looks like.

If they say on the menu they are serving Roast Lamb, that is what I would expect to get and not Hogget or Mutton.

Neither. Depends on my mood/people i'm with that's dining out w/me. Love them both. Authenitc dishes because its an authentic taste that dish which makes that unique culture/ethnic dish as though real like your visiting their country's flavor. As for Fusion, love it too, its a new exciting taste of both world or blended influence of some favorite ethnic taste. Most of the time I bring business associates to these fusion type resturants because it's kinda trendy, new, & modern. Anyways, I can't decide because I love them both.

More than "authentic", I'm all for taste, ambiance, company.

There are some restaurants that serve "authentic" something and they suck.

And there are others that serve a modified version of some ethnic, typical dish with great results.

It's all about the food and the whole experience.

Authentic is very important. I'd choose the authentic over the fusion ones. I would like to eat the real authentic food. Not something like taco bell, which is probably not authentic mexican at all.

I agree with you in a certain point of view, i prefer authentic food.  Not many fusion food that I have tried before impressed me much that I still remember them but I always can think of some authentic ones in my mind.

I'm from Hong Kong and there are quite a lot of fusion restaurants here, I still do not like people serve Chinese food in western style (eg., serving small portions on over-decorated big plates and too much sauces, etc.)
