Theyre very old, they were my Grandads but I presume they are still dangerous.

  1. Fire them in an old shotgun.

  2. Y'all still have bogs there?

    And they never were dangerous

  3. Wait until there's another amnesty and take them to the Police station. ;0)

Alternatively we could organise a chav cull and BBQ.

  4. Take them to your nearest police station.Hand them in there.

  5. Assuming it is a recent discovery?

Contact your local police station and ask them for advice. Explain what you have, and how you came to be in possession of them.  The police will either, tell you how and where to dispose of them, or may even send an officer to collect them.

Alternatively, contact your local shot gun club, who may be able to offer help, and I'd certainly expect them to be able to give you advice.

If they are unused (still live) then yes they are potentially lethal.  They won't "go off" with normal sensible handling, but do handle them with care.

Age does not deteriorate the powder charge, unless they've been exposed to a lot moisture.

Never throw them into a fire, that could prove fatal, and don't be tempted to put them in the bin.

  6. Ship them over to me, and I'll "dispose" of them properly.  Depending on what guage of shells they are, and to some degree condition, they should still be usable.  Drop them off at a local gun club, I'm sure somebody will make use of them.

I like the suggestion of a chav cull.  It's crossed my mind several times.
