  1. Unless you get the DIVE cds or the new Saxon Teacher thing, you will need someone to explain concepts to  you.

  2. My experience was that my kids did fine without any help and used only the text, we did have a solutions manual after Algebra 1 (that was easy enough;)

The DIVE discs were not necessary.  But, we could be the exception.

    Good luck :D

  3. Only if you are naturally good at reading and understanding new concepts.  If you are used to getting someone to explain things for you orally then get the cds if you can afford it.  I have some of them but my kids don't watch every lesson, only the ones they have trouble with.  I think there is probably a point where they won't need them but once they can apply what they've learned to any new material they should be able to work it out without the cds, at least that is what I am hoping for.

Also, I do not recommend buying them used since there will not be any help from the makers should you have any problems.  I found this out the hard way.  Go to the website for more info.

  4. Unless you really catch on well to math, I'd blow the $50 on the DIVE cds...they're worth it :)
