How inteligent are elephants . . ?

Is it true that elephants are more intelligent than men . . . but just can't speak, and so cannot prove it ?

in my opinion elephants aren't as intelligent as men. (maybe women. :P lol just kidding, some women are more intelligent than some men tbh :o). if they were, they'd probably rule the world!! or maybe that would only prove they were more evil than men? anyways, i'm pretty sure elephants have some good memory: if you hurt an elephant it'll remember you and what you did.

   yes, i aggre with you..but i thinks,elephants can prove their inteligent by use tools altought not have hands.

    Instead, they use their trunk like an arm. Elephants have been observed digging holes to drink water and then ripping bark from a tree, chewing it into the shape of a ball, filling in the hole and covering over it with sand to avoid evaporation.

    The elephant later went back to this spot for a drink. They also often use branches to swat flies or scratch themselves.

   Elephants have also been known to drop very large rocks onto an electric fence to either ruin the fence or cut off the electricity.

Elephants are very intelligent.  Beyond that we don't know.  We know through careful testing that they are self aware and there's a distinct possibility they have a concept of mortality.  Intelligence is hard to test.  We don't even have definitive tests that determine how smart individual humans are.  Trying to test animal intelligence is extremely difficult.  Plus, the only intelligence we are familiar with is human intelligence.  Animals could be extremely smart but in ways we humans simply don't know how to recognize.  

Imagine trying to translate to English a book written in an alien language when you don't know the grammar, the sentence structure, the alphabet, the punctuation, or even what direction it should be read in.  All we can know about animal intelligence are the tiny snipits specific scientific tests reveal about awareness, memory, recognition, math, language, etc.  Animals are probably a lot smarter than humans give them credit for.  We just don't know how smart yet.
