  1. D3 can be as intense as D1 or not depending on the schools.  There are D1 programs that you would not consider very intense.  There are about 330 D1 schools and not every D1 school has sold out stadiums and school jets to take them to matches.  Many D1 schools could not beat good high school or club teams.

There are D3 programs the same way.  You will have D3 schools that are INTENSE.  There are going to be D3 schools that are volleyball programs in name only.  If someone is thinking about attending a D3 school to get away from the pressure and intensity, they better research the school.

As stated above, the main difference is the scholarships.  They are allowed to give academic and "need" scholarships instead of athletic scholarship.

  2. I play in D3 myself. The only intense things about it, is that you have older, better players in the league, which can make things a little more entertaining, but also more convincing to watch. There may be some mistakes made, but not as much as the other two divisions before.

  3. do you mean college or high school?

    it differs obv.

  4. Just because Division III doesn't get mass media attention doesn't make it less intense. This is a misconception. If you ask players at a division III school if it's intense, they would laugh at you.

Division I and sometimes II are larger schools with bigger budgets for scholarships. This means that gifted and talented athletes will get scholarships, but great players with slightly less talent will be overlooked. Many of these players fall to Division III.

A division III school may be able to get one or possibly two scholarships, if they are lucky. Most don't get any. This means the talent pool is thinned out. However, Some very talented coaches work in Division III and you will be pushed similarly to a Division I or II program. Many schools (Div I, II, and III) use the exact same drills and exact same practice time, but they Division I and II schools simply have more talented athletes getting full rides.

Long story short, it all depends on the program, coaching staff, and history.

  5. not that intense... but fun and interesting to watch!  and its alot more fun to play... not as many mess ups!

  6. Well i dont know about anywhere else but in NYC its pretty legit or so it seems to me anyways. Im currently in High School Vball, and I recall players who graduated and they TORE up the PSAL in the past years, so basically the best players play in D3 from NY (with selected few going to D1) But depending on what schools, it can get pretty intense
