Question:

How is Al Gore rationalizing the use of ethanol to save the planet when it is causing food shortages?

First of all, global warming is a debate. There are reputable scientists on both sides of the argument. Whether man's activity is causing the planet to warm is not FACT.

What is FACT, and is happening right now is that Al Gore's ethanol jag is causing people to go hungry due to food shortages.

How does he rationalize this?

  1. it is about getting america to think differently.

  2. Bob said:

"These people disagree with you about manmade global warming being a FACT.

The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Chemical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Association, etc."

You misunderstand them, Bob. They never said it was a FACT. You still don't understand the scientific method, do you?

  3. Who cares?  Al Gore, as much as you fear it, doesn't run the world.  World leaders don't check with him to see what to do.

And food shortages are mostly due to drought, and increased meat consumption around the world.  Biofuels are a minor factor (we just don't use that much).

These people disagree with you about manmade global warming being a FACT.

The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Chemical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Association, etc.

No offense, but I think I'll go with them.  The National Academy of Sciences in particular.  1800 of America's best scientists, elected by their peers.  Being elected to the Academy is like winning the Oscar in science.

  4. Lol, because this is who he works for (please foward to 2:45).

  5. yeah....we're back to square one

  6. it isn't just that it causes food supplies to become more costly but also it takes a lot of energy to process the corn to produce ethenol.  This adds more co-2 to the enviroment than using regular gasoline. We need to rethink what we do when trying to make wholesale changes that's supposed to be better for the enviroment. Cars are vastly improved than they were 30 yrs ago, better gas milage less co-2 emmissions.  Here's an example: If a person walks to the grocery store 1 mile roundtrip, that is equivelant to using the energy of a 1.5 Lb. sirloin steak to replace our own fuel tank, to produce the 1.5 Lb. steak ready for market for the consumer takes more energy(moreco-2 emmissions) than it would have driving a car(less co-2 emmissions).  A lot has to be taken into account when attempting to make wholesale changes and you were exactly right, good to see that someone else pays attention to these matters and isn't duped into jumping off the deep end so to speak. Thank You.

  7. well , we all know that the resources on the planet are running out , this is a good alternative for the environment. however we must make sure that the production of  corn  ,we can see it in India it self many farmers are leaving the agricultural sector and joining the others ,so there is a in balance of what is produced for food and what is produced for ethanol. there are other causes also like our food habits etc. so the only solution is to produce more food stuff.

  8. the use of ethanol is not causing food shortages....there are still many acres the farmers are not using because they couldn't break even with expense of farming vs what they sell their produce for.....not what you buy it in the store for but what the farmer sells it for.....what is causing people to be short of food is the cost of transporting food due to the high cost of oil.....

  9. You watch way too much Fox News dude.  What reputable scientist doesn't believe in Global Warming?  The one that represents Exxon??  Using ethanol isn't causing a food shortage, with the price celing that is on the corn, there is a huge amount that is given to other countries...straight out of the farms of Iowa.  Get off your GOP high horse.

  10. His rationalizations only point to one thing for him...MONEY. IF only he would live the lifestyle he preaches.  The ethanol thing is just another scam.  Currently, with all the food grains being diverted for fuel, they only make up 3% of the fuel market. It was reported that IF all the available grains were diverted for fuel, they would make up a maximum of 18% of the fuel markets. Yep, sure sounds like a great idea....starve the world (not to mention ourselves) in order to reduce oil by 18%.  Brilliant I say (sarcasm).  His global warming farce has blown up in his face and he continues to make himself look like as a&& and continues making false accusations regarding it. Now, he realizes his money making scheme from that is not being bought by the informed public. So, he jumps on board another money making scheme all in the attempts to make more money while creating suffering for the world.  Boy, am I glad he didn't get elected.

  11. I don't trust Al Gore because he is no scientist.   He is enriching himself at the expense of future generations.

I've been a meteorologist for about 30 years.   I think there is a lot to answer for,  by the alarmists and this includes Al Gore.

  12. It seems Mr Gore is doing a pretty good job of getting rich off peoples stupidity and ignorance. Open your eyes and smell the roses. Hes a FRAUD. Buy his carbon credits, but first buy my swamp land in death valley.

  13. You can bet Al Gore is not going hungry flying around in his jet plane to any where he choose

  14. Al Gore knows whats best for us, if 1/3 of the worlds population is wiped out from starvation, whats the difference if they are wiped out due to global warming?

You're going to have to trust Al Gore

  15. Al Gore isn't very knowledgeable person on various count.......he isn't a scientist (doesn't have the knowledge of elementary science which a child learn in lower classes in schools.......his world is limited to the USA and to some extent , the Western Europe..........he doesn't know the cost involved in producing the ethanol and countries which are capable of doing that to what extent). One must think globally viable alternative fuel ........... there should be huge investment in terms money  and human brains to explore the possibility of finding alternative fuel at the earliest ....."robbing this or that country of its fuel reserve is a very stupid approach " .....the policy is highly counter productive.

I am have tremendous faith in human talents ........mankind , in general , has done huge improvement in various fields through research /seminars& conferences( for sharing views)......I am sure ......if instead of wasting unthinkable resources in developing wafare skills and N-Bombs/Missiles / Military etc, to kill ourselves.......if , just a 1% of the GDP of the developed nations are invested for doing reasearch (and related matters) for creating alternative viable fuel , the mankind as whole will be able to avoid a dead end ..........all other nations must contribute towards this effort.

  16. Al Gore could not rationalize his way out of a wet paper bag.

I will have to disagree with your comment about global warming being a debate since the proper scientists are not allowed to present the facts which would soon bring an end to this farce.

I agree that it SHOULD be a debate however.

If Al Gore has any morals whatsoever, I would like to know where they are hidden(or maybe not).

You are also correct about much of the food shortages being caused by this new lunatic approach to create ethanol.

Some of this currently is not because the food is not available yet however, although it will only be a short matter of time that this will be the sole reason if we continue down this path.

It looks like some greedy food brokers around the world are actually stockpiling in anticipation of making even larger profits as demand forces prices even higher.

Much like the Hunt brothers did with silver back in the 1980's.

Since the price of rice has nearly doubled in two months time, some of the large organizations which have the resources to stockpile could make tremendous profits by even holding on to the supplies for a week or two.

This is the way big business works.

    Profit is all that matters.

There is no morality in big business.

The cost of food production was already going up in response to increased energy costs caused by artificially induced shortage and so-called 'Green Taxes', and now others have seen how to capitalize on the situation.

Quit often I almost feel ashamed that I belong to the same race as these evil Ba****ds!

  17. Because leftists base their success on their good intentions and not results.

Gore wants us to live a more environmentally conscious lifestyle, and that is a good thing.  People on the right, conservatives, Republicans, Libertarians... it's not like they  want dirty air and dirty water!  On the contrary, they absolutely agree that conservation and ecological harmony is a good thing, and fully support research and innovation to bring us closer to that each day.  But they recognize that will take time, and practical realities must be endured in the meantime.

The difference is, the left believes that the way to get there is to force everyone, to commit to science and technology before it exists, and to force a lifestyle and social penalties on everyone in an attempt to mandate results.

That is like saying, we have to lose weight, so we will only manufacture clothes that fit a size zero and require everyone to wear a size zero by law, or pay penalties for wearing other sizes.  This is a leftist solution.  It presumes that people will automatically change their lifestyles and lose weight simply because the only clothing they can buy and wear is a size zero.  Then, when people start going around naked in public and more others decide just to never leave their home (where they can wear illegal clothing they secretly manufactured themselves), the leftists will blame the failures on the right-wing and defend themselves by saying, "Well, at least we tried to DO something about it, because we RECOGNIZED the catastrophic problem and ATTEMPTED a solution."

Results NEVER matter to the left.  Only good intentions.

And everything that happens negatively as a result of their "good intentions" is someone else's fault.  It HAS to be.

  18. Man's activity causing climate change is FACT. Have you ever seen temperature?

Al Gore is not a scientist, it doesn't take away from the message that the world is changing and not for the good. Ethanol and other energy alternatives are trying to address a problem that is poisoning the planet. Not poisoning you is pretty good rationale.

The reputable scientists on both sides of the argument are actually blind to global warming. Did you know academia throughout the world uses temperature considerations in their science except it is completed in a calculator?

Go to the following link to see advanced temperature imaging showing cause of global warming and how we are reacting to symptoms. http://www.thermoguy.com/globalwarming-h... will show you building temperatures close to boiling temperature because of solar radiation scorching the surface of the planet.

I would like any scientist to explain to me why we are worried about heat trapping gases atmospherically while we generate extreme heat close to boiling temperature on the surface of the planet?

Al Gore is missing critical science as are others, it doesn't take away from the message that we are in serious trouble. Al is missing critical data but we still defended him showing global warming is man made. 19. The same way he rationalizes living in a twenty room plus eight bath mansion in Nashville Tennessee.  He uses fuzzy logic.

  20. Nobody  is starving because of ethanol production, ethanol is a minor player in the increase of the cost of food in the U.S.

World wide bigger causes are drought and rural migration to cities and (like fuel) China's increasing economy, buying more of the worlds food supply.

Anyone who watches "boring news shows" would know that economists have been warning this would happen for several years.

  21. How could Al Gore or any of his congregation rationalize anything?

In order to rationalize anything requires a brain which has at least some knowledge of the subject.

These people do not understand the extreme damage and suffering that they are causing the entire human race(including themselves) by their insanity.

Producing ethanol, especially from corn, requires much more energy than what could ever be returned.

The misguided concept of bio-fuels being 'CARBON NEUTRAL' is as far removed from reality as possible.

If the correct infrastructure was in place, the use of excess crop productions to produce and turn what would normally be waste into a supplemental energy source could make some sense.

What makes this entire situation so much more insane, is that it has nothing to do with science, but arrogant misguided belief, nothing more!

These lunatics believe that CO2 is a substantial 'greenhouse gas', and that mankind is responsible for most of it, or at least a significant amount.

Many actually believe that the Sun or the earth's orbit have nothing to do with driving weather conditions!

They also ignore the fact that past increases in atmospheric CO2 levels always occurred after periods of global temperature increases and NEVER lead up to those periods of time.

The really sad part about all of this is that they really believe all of this BS.

I do not normally care about other people's beliefs as long as they are harmless, but this is far from being harmless.

In fact, it is going to destroy everything that science has been working toward for the benefit of man, until some sensibility is re-established.
