  1. USA is coming second in every newspaper and media outlet worldwide.

    Except for CNN and FOX.

Olympics have ALWAYS been counted on number of gold, not total number of medals.

But stupid Americans (those who watch FOX and CNN) can't handle the fact that they are being beaten convincingly by the Commies.

Lets say for example: USA came third in everything... And Spain came first in everything except for one event which was won by Italy...USA would have more medals...but without ever winning anything.  surely they could not claim to be winning....

Of if a baseball team never won the world series, but came third and second more times that anyone else... would they be the most successful side...of course not.

  2. Its sort of a publicity thing. The olympics has always been judged by number of golds from day 1. It's the tradition.  But of course, US will show you rankings by total number of medals if it is to their advantage, as they want americans to feel like they are winning. Encourages patriotism, support, and of course, more TV watching.

  3. Someone said ""You know darn well if the tables were turned and China had the total medal count lead every non-American would be arguing the opposite.""

Hahah .. no. I'm sorry but that's just not true. Golds has ALWAYS been the proper way to rank the table. If you think Phelps would swap 9 golds for 10 bronzes you're nuts.

  4. We're looking at it any way we can to make ourselves feel better!

  5. US is first in medals and China is first in golds.

  6. It really depends on how you look at it. Some people say total medal count, and some people say gold. One thing I have said in the past is try telling the bronze medalist that his medal doesn't count.

On that note, I could actually go either way on this issue, but no matter how you look at it, both the Chinese and the Americans had a great game. People just need to leave the poor Americans and even the Chinese alone. With the exception of a few issues they both did a good job.

  7. im tired of this question

  8. I agree. They keep saying that the media is trying to hide the fact that China has more gold medals. I have recordings of that goofy Bob Costas saying China is in the lead for gold medals. The man says it every night during the recap.

  9. Americas reign has ended; ITS ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT GOLD MEDALS, not the total tally, even when losing Americans can find a way to try and cheat! Atleast this time its not drugs....

  10. I watch NBC in US and they list number of gold medals first.

Its funny when the olympics began last week there were numerous questions about which athletes won the most medals in past Olympics, now it is only about the gold.

  11. Everyone is just complaining because they hate America, but certaintly want our immediate help whenever they experience a natural disaster and need aid. Since America is in the lead with the total medal count, all the people on yahoo answers just want to not count the silver and bronze as worthy enough.  You know darn well if the tables were turned and China had the total medal count lead every non-American would be arguing the opposite.

Of course a gold medalist wouldn't trade for a bronze, but someone who wins no medal would certainly be happier with a silver or a bronze, would they not?
