How is Biology different from Zoology?

i'm just wondering how they are different from each other...they sound the same to me...

  1. Biology is an over-arching term that includes many disciplines.  Zoology is more specific and deals more narrowly with animals.  Other disciplines within biology include botany, microbiology, molecular biology, ecology, etc.


  2. Zoology is a type of biology dealing with animals, just as botany deals with plants.  Zoology has many sub-sections, including (for example), ornithology (study of birds), herpetology (study of reptiles and amphibians), and cryptozoology (study of microscopic animals).
