I'm an American, and I've heard that their are some things different about Canadian football, from American. Can someone tell me these differences? Also, is it even popular in Canada? Or is Canada just dominated by hockey.

  1. Yep, pretty much what he said ^ ^ ^

A little history;  The Grey Cup awarded to the league champion was first awarded in 1909, however proffessional football in Canada can be dated as far back as 1861.

  2. Longer field, 110 yds, wider fielr, longer end zones, 25 yds, 3 downs, defense must be 1 yard off the line of scrimmage, 1 point if ball is kicked through the end zone, 12 players aside, all backs are allowed to be in motion, they play 18 games a year with 2 pre season games, season started in June, ends in November with the Grey Cup game. Half players are Yanks other half Canadian or non import very wide open game Ricky Williams is in way over his head

  3. Wax lips and rice cakes

  4. Canadian football is very different from US Ball. First of all the season is 20 games long. No pre-season. All 20 games count in the standings.

Second the field is 110 yards long and mid field is 55 yard line. Instead of 4 downs you only have 3. So if your a great passing QB you would do great in Can Football.

The last difference is something called the Single. I know it has something to do with punting and the punting team gets 1 point, but other than that I know nothing else.

  5. American football? I find it sooooooo boring. It has continued to see increased fan interest despite some bone-headed decisions from the leage office and continues to thrive in spite of it

I know of many instances where former NFL fans have left the "No Fun League" behind because the CFL is better because...

    We've got bigger balls

We only need 3 downs to make 10 yards instead of the pathetic four downs in the NFL

    We've got a bigger field

    More players in motion before the snap;

More excitement in the last minutes of a close game because you can't just stop the clock whenever you want to

The players truly play more for the love of the game than the cheque [the average salary is only about $50G's

The kicking game is far better

The strategy is far more interesting

No "don't hit me cause I don't wanna break a nail sissy kickoff rule"

    but best of all.......

    IT'S CANADIAN!!!!!!!!!
