  1. Carnival (carnevale in Italian) in Venice is something special that cannot be compared with any other (also Rio de Janeriro that it's for sure bigger, more crowded but has nothing to do with the one in Venice).

Rome has no particular traditions for the Carnival ; for sure there will be something (special events in the discos and in the streets kids with fancy masks launching confetti) but absolutely nothing special as somewhere else. In Italy, besides of Venezia, other towns where Carnival has a tradition and where there are performed special spectacles are Viareggio, Cento, Putignano, Fano, Acireale, Foiano and Ivrea. Viareggio in particular is very famous all over Europe for being one of the oldest Carnival in the world and for its "carri allegorici" (allegoric waggons).

Previous answerer (in Italian) says that Venice's carnival is much nicer than the one of Rome where there are just a few waggons and where carnival is organized by the single wards, without a general involvement of the city.

  2. Non c'è paragone! il carnevale di Venezia è molto più bello...

A Roma fanno le sfilate con i carri con musica e manifestazioni, ma sono tutti organizzati dai singoli quartieri di Roma..
