How is China wrong for emphasizing the appearance of a child when the U.S. does it and it's right?

R U KIDDING ME???? Double standards r us. Can you say hypocrit? THINK about how we exploit children in the U.S. Oh the U.S. would have done things differently, instead of letting another child sing the music they would have made us listen to c**p as long as we were LOOKING at a pretty picture. Give me a break. America's Got Talent; American Idol...Holy c**p r u guys trying to say that we choose according to talent and that looks has nothing to do with it. Jeez.

I have to agree with you.  But the US isn't trying to remake their image.  China is.  For the longest time we have looked down at the Chinese and their actions.  Now when they have the chance to have us in awe (for lack of a better word) they decide to have a cute child with no singing talent as the image instead of a someone who only has a good voice.  They aren't wrong per say but since they're trying to remake their image then it makes them seem like they're trying to hard in my opinion.

i am sad China felt is was necessary..        

says a lot about what they believe about the rest of the world.  shallow, visual...   and the usa proves this impression correct every day on entertainment tv, in the celeb gossip rags, etc.

and the actual singer was very cute.. just not perfect teeth.
