  1. Humanist philosophy stressed the dignity of humanity, and humanists shifted intellectual emphasis off of theology and logic to specifically human studies.

    Civic humanism merged the civic tradition of the late medieval commune, with Petrarchan humanism and classical learning. It focused more upon politics and the welfare of society and less upon the arts.
