  1. its fine but if your house has lots of trees arond it dont get it if this is the case then you should get comcast.

tivo is really no diffrent from anyother dvr.

  2. i've really only heard rumors about Tivo's lawsuit against Dish Network for stealing their idea. basically, Dish Network has been using DVR technology for the last 6 or 7 years, and Tivo hasn't been able to stop them. and i wouldn't expect Dish Network to stop using it any time soon.

Dish's newest HD DVR is the Vip722. it has a hard drive capable of recording either 350 hours of SD (standard definition) programming, or 55 hours of HD (high definition) programming, or a combination of the two. basically, hd takes up more space than sd because of the resolution.

the other thing i like about the 722 is that it's a dual tuner/dual tv receiver, meaning, that not only can you record two different channels at the same time, but that you can also hook the receiver up to two different tvs in your house.  the tv2 works with a uhf remote, which communicates through the walls in your home with the receiver. what this means is that you can watch recorded events on either of the two tvs, record shows on either of the two tvs, and also perform the dvr functions on both tvs (pause, rewind, fast forward). it's also being offered free to new customers; no upgrade fee at all.
