Ecology is the scientific study of the distribution of life and the interactions between organisms and their enviroment, (surroundings).  The Enviroment of an organism includes physical properties that can be described as the local Abiotic factors such as sunlite, climate, and geology, and Biotic factors which are the other organisms that share the enviroment.

    The word Ecology is often used more loosely in such terms as social ecology and enviromentalism and is often taken in the sense of Enviromentally friendly.

    The term Ecology was coined by the german Biologist Ernest Haeckel in 1866, when he defined it as "the comprehensive science of the relationship of the organism to the enviroment."
