  1. It's a wonderful city!!!!, it's like a piece of Europe in America. However, you can find many cultural expressions of indigenous groups and, although most of the city has an European architecture style there are zones with a much modern look. You can do everything!!!, there are lots o museums, theaters, malls (Plaza Galerias is the biggest mall in Latin America) and it's zoo is the second in importance just after a natural reserve in China. If you're American you'll feel very comfortable because they speak english in the most important places of the city. It's actually a cheap city, with great options for nightlife. You should visit as many places as you can and discover the mixture of many cultures. The only thing you should avoid is the morelos park and the "mercado de san juan de dios". They´re considered touristic attractives but the truth is that they're dangerous (red zone) and there's nothing interesting for a tourist.

  2. Guadalajara is a nice town overall. I really never had to avoid anything while I was over there and there are lots of stands with people selling things from Lamborgini wallets to art. Not expensive at all.

  3. Not expensive

Watch a Soccer game ( very loud and exciting audience) .

Go on the streets and look at the arts and crafts.

  4. Guadalajara is a very beautiful city. It is known as the city of roses and the Pearl of the West just to give you an idea of how it is viewed by Mexico. It is popular to visit the downtown area in order to view the various buildings such a the Governors palace, the Teatro Degollado and its many fountains and parks. It is even fun to even people watch. Also recommended is Zapopan Downtown, Tlaquepaque, and Tonala all within easy traveling distance. Make sure to have a Torta Ahogada and Tejuino for a true Guadalajara experience!  About being expensive dont worry there are ways to keep the trip cheap. As for things to avoid....hmm....things that are bootlegged. That is all I can think of for now. Enjoy your trip to Guadalajara!!!

  5. Guadalajara is a beautiful city to visit, very european, modern and cosmopolitan, it has a bunch of activities and it really depends what u are interested in, there´s tons of museums, galleries, restaurants and malls for all budgets you will find expensive restaurants as well as very cheap options. High end boutiques including Ferragamo, Zegna, Prada, Hugo Boss, Mont Blanc, Lacoste, Coach, Diesel, etc. or handcrafts and very low price fashionable clothes at downtown.

I will recomend u to go to Tlaquepaque where u will find fine decoration stuff for all budgets as well as nice restaurants and galleries. Visit the malls and enjoy how modern the city and the mexican people lives like (nothing like we watch or listen in the news) Nightlife is AWESOME! also for all kinds of budgets and tastes, what u CAN´T definitely miss is the ride in the "calandrias" (a typical french-style carriage) with horses they charge about 50 dls and they take you from the downtown to the French Zone called "Lafayette" where beautiful old european houses are now converted in restaurants, cafes, bars, boutiques and galleries is all the nice mexican crowd hangs out in the evenings, Chapala lake (mexico´s largest lake) and the small and charming Ajijic and Chapala town are very close Guadalajara and you will be amazed how the half of the population in this two mentioned towns are canadians and american retired people.

Also Guadalajara is famous for the world class events, check out the gigs of your favorite artist and could be very interesting to assist to a concert in other country.

Good luck and enjoy actually Guadalajara is all about enjoy cause is a very safe city and the weather is perfect almost the whole year.
