there are few factors which makes IPL diff. from other 1} it's not a recognized tournament so any of the records made by players would not be counted 2} it is only one tournament where all international players are participating 3} huge money is involved 4} it's been launched against the rivalry ICL :) so it becomes more popular

Congratulations Shahrukh ! IPL is different as it has introduced an exceptionally new definition of Cricket Team. Cricketers have one single religion, they are CRICKETERS,  

period. Like actors have one and only one religion, they are ACTORS. Thrilled to see the 1st Match at Bangalore! But, one thing didn’t look  meaningful. Saw the supporters with a large Indian Flag. Now, this is, according to me is not exactly what  it should be in future... There is no one Indian Team as separate, all the IPL teams are Indian. Instead, there should be different flags of each IPL Team with a smaller version Indian National  flag printed at the right upper corner of each flag. Similar design? Just have a look at the Flag of U.S.A. stars on a blue background at the left top, we put the Tiranga at the right top! Can't imitate, sorry.

Firstly, the Indian Premier League is not an international tournament and it's official recognition is of a domestic tournament (though international players are involved).

I don't think that so much money has ever been involved in any tournament earlier.

The IPL is so popular that the happening of international tournaments have been adjusted in time to ensure that the players get to play both the IPL and serve their country as well.

And guess what, the IPL starts tomorrow :-)

I think it is very different form the other tournaments. The players from different countries, for the very first time, are getting a glorious chance to come together and play as one team. It will not only reduce the tension between Indo-pak and indo-aus issues, but would also give the players a chance to see each others' strengths and weaknesses... which might help them big-time in the future :) Plus, India is getting its own recognition that it deserves. I mean great players from all over the world are coming and playing in our country on our land... i think it's a very prestegious thing! oh and as far as bollywood is concerned w/ sports... i don't see anything wrong with it. I mean bollywood has played a big role in representing India all through the globe, so why not in one more thing. It doesn't hurt to watch something boring with a little bit of entertainment involved from these people.
