  1. They both are useful, but Mandarin is Chinese, and we all know what Japanese is,and they both are mostly the same.

  2. Chinese -- > Mandarin

  3. Japanese, sounds a lot more like English, Same basic word structure.

YOu are correct, Chinese is a lot more Vowel Heavy.

Japanese will be easier to learn, if you speak English.

However, the Chinese, have a much better chance of taking over the world...

OH and By the way, Those Stimulus Checks that went out to everyone in the states.

We borrowed that money from the CHINESE, and we OWE IT BACK...

So I would think out of the three, I would choose, Chinese...

    GOOD LUCK

  4. I think it depends more on what you want to do. If you want to go into something involving Japan, like anime, then stick with Japanese. However, overall Mandarin is currently a very useful language to know. I was recently told be the mayor of my town that she thinks, in a few years, everyone will have to learn Mandarin. She says it is a very helpful asset, especially in the bussiness and political world.

If you are looking for the more useful, popular language, go with Mandarin. I think 1/3 of the world currently speaks it.

If you want to get deeper into the Japanese culture, then go with that.

Or learn both? Good luck! :]

  5. In Japanese it's not so much what you say, as much as how you say it.  Mandarin is much more straight forward.  Learn Hebrew  because in the coming years, we Israelis will be taking over!

  6. more people speak chinese, and the chinese make 3/4 of the stuff you own.

    chinese is alot more useful.

chinese is only similar to japanese in a few ways...

i am learning chinese... and i recommend you learn it too!

  7. mandarin is chinese, and they are two total different cultures with two totally different backgrounds.

truth be known, neither of them wil be easy for you.

  8. Never study a language based on its perceived utility. Study a language because there's something in it that actively engages you and interests you (like the culture, the people or some other constant interaction you have with the language).

All languages are difficult, and some are harder based on what your first language is. So it's silly to try to gauge what will be harder or easier to master and then choose only based on that. They are all as hard or as easy as the effort and passion you put into it.

So choose based on what excites you more on a personal level, because that'll ultimately be the main thing that drives you to get the language down.

For example, even if statistics show that there are far more Mandarin-speakers in the world, yet you barely involve yourself in their culture and the people, then you won't be using it much no matter how many people in the world statistically use it and you'll never have the motivation to keep studying it. However, if you immerse yourself in the culture and are constantly driven to learn it, you'll overcome lots of language barriers and obstacles.

We can only give you stats and personal experience. Both languages are difficult enough and have enough speakers that you can't lose based on those factors. Ultimately, it's up to what language you see fits best with your own personality and interests, and what cultures and communities you see yourself wanting to get involved in.

  9. Ah, another fan of anime.

    I recommend learning Japanese.

I'm currently studying it, and I also watch a good amount of anime.

Japanese is easier, and more fun to learn.

It's nice to see another anime fan.

Stay in touch if you'd like. We could talk about this in more detail.
