  1. Its certainly a beautiful place and has less of the grinding poverty that afflicts so much of the Caribbean. The mixture of French and Afro-Caribbean culture is charming and Antillean food is excellant.

    Yes, the official language is French and most of the population actually speaks Creole which is a patois (the French based version of pidgin English). English speakers who are convinced that everyone in the world has a moral obligation to speak English might not be happy with this.

  2. I was there 3 weeks ago. They want tourism, but hardly anyone speaks English. It would be difficult unless you speak French.
