nashville only spent 34 on salaries last season. Then they also made 2 million in profit.

So how are they going to spend 42 in salaries? there going to come up short?

is the NHL going to be writing a bigger revenue sharing cheque to this team?

How does this work in the NHL?

  1. They will go further and further into debt until the NHL realizes they have to be moved to a Canadian city like Hamilton or Winnipeg.

  2. I'm thinking the Boots Del Baggio Legal Defence fund.

Given that they lost $70 million over the last 9 years, to actually make money isn't bad.  Thank god they can count on at least four sellouts (Detroit) a season; albeit with 2/3 of the crowd in red/white.

  3. Sorry if you don't sell a minimum number of tickets to your games you don't get the Toronto gravy (revenue sharing). So you gotta pay more than you make to keep your franchise. Maybe your owner can talk to some of his new friends (in prison) to help him out.

  4. The same way the other 29 teams pay their salaries.

  5. relocate.

  6. They're gonna have to let some of their players go, or pay them less.

  7. Chris: actually, they would technically need to get some new players, and pay them more... The $42mil isn't the cap, it's the bottom, the floor, can't go lower. So, if I understand correctly, they would need to sign some FAs and pay them more. Or something like that.

  8. They will do it the same way they have been doing it for years...............it will come out of the owners pockets.
