Question:

How is New Orleans now after Katrina?

We all know about how Hurricane Katrina caused major damage to the city of New Orleans. But I want to know if New Orleans still has its style: jazz players on street corners, unique French cuisine, etc. Even though Katrina destroyed lots of things, did it destroy the style of New Orleans?

  1. There was a fear for a while that Katrina had destroyed the "soul" of New Orleans.  However, the city has made huge strides towards recovery and all the things New Orleans is famous for are back.

You should visit and see for yourself.

  2. No.  The French Quarter is one of the few areas that did not flood so the buildings look the same.

There are actually more restaurants open since before Katrina.

Most tourists only want to visit the French Quarter so they don't even see the damage that took place in 80% of the city. There's still lots of work to be done, but please don't let that stop you from visiting. There are lots of fun things to do and most of the street artist and musicians are back.

If you're from New Orleans, you love New Orleans and we won't let something like a hurricane destroy our spirit!  After all, hurricanes are a part of our lives -  we've grown up with them. Katrina was just a really bad one.

  3. I went last year (in and around the french quarter) and it looks like nothing happened at all.
