  1. awesome photo's Bill in the above message!!

Hard to say when we don't know what country you're from of whether you're a city or country person.

I live here, am well travelled, lived in Australia for a few years and Canada for awhile but I wouldn't live anywhere other than here.

Everything is so beautiful here, both the cities & country area's & there's so much variety here it's like a whole bunch of countries in the one place - volcanic activity, alps & glaciers & snow, great beaches, surf beaches, lakes, forests, plains, mountains, great nightlife in Auckland and Wellington.

You don't say where in NZ you are going to be living, people could give you much more info if you stated that.  Each city, etc can be quite different from another.

Get a lonely planet guide for general info about our culture & history & all the sights, etc and watch flight of the conchords if you want to tune into our sense of humour.

Just google search whatever you're interested in on google.co.nz

  3. NZ is a great place ... low crime so you'll feel safe, good weather so lots of outdoor sports, and the people are very relaxed and friendly ... we visited there and toured around for a month

  4. I have never lived there, but from a tourists point of view, it is a fantastic country to visit and explore.  Lots to do and see and some of the most friendly people in the world.  Very easy to talk to, very helpful, and very accomodating.  I enjoyed my visits there immensely and plan to return.

  5. I live here and think it is pretty nice.  It depends where you are coming from but most people think it is generally a quieter, more relaxed place than a lot of countries.  Most social services (medical, school etc.) are quite affordable thanks to all the tax that the govt. rakes in!

There are not so many huge variations in wealth / poverty as some places.  It's good that there are social safety nets in place but we could do more as a country to encourage the go-ahead entreprenuers, sometimes they suffer the 'tall poppy' syndrome when they become successfull.

The biggest city (Auckland) is like a big city anywhere else but the rest of the country is spread out with nice landscapes. I'm a photographer, if you check out my website you can see some of the scenery (link below).
