  1. there is no way off walking this but however your phone goes to the nearest telecoms center and it transmits to space which gets back down because of a satellite and it goes to your friends phone simple

  2. Thats a very good question and I always try to  get an answer for that and i never get one. Its like no one knows that. umm i think its too long of a cable to link the two contitents together and if something like a fish where to chew on the cable dont you think we would have connection problems already. If something like that were to happen then the rupture of the cable would take forever to find so i think it is linked through satellites

  3. Generally By wire Believe it or not. Engineers are quickly working to replace old wire "international Trunks" or Main lines that tie the world together via the internet. Although much is done via satellite not as much as one would think. Satellite communications can be manipulated and interrupted by weather. Certainly not reliable enough for the internet. Most connections are made though cable That is run across the ocean on the ocean floor. If you remember (if you're old enough to) the Internet spawned on millions on telephone lines. These telephone lines have been in place for a long long time. Now they have a whole network of cables running across both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. For cable tv, closed circuit tv, phones, banking and all sorts of other things we do internationally has a network on which to do it. We haven't reached the point of secure and reliable satellite communications but that is coming too!

In europe there are several routes it could take depending on where you are, Since the trunks have entry points in major centres it goes out like a spider web and enters each major centre. For instance one such centre is near spain and one near Ireland. If you lived closer to Ireland It would find its way to the Ireland trunk and Cross and possibly come out at New York or Boston. Depending where you are sending to. Most European Communications come through the east coast New York,Boston,Miami and a few others. So if you were sending to somewhere Just north of chicago It might go something like this:

Through the Ireland's hub. cross the Antlantic Ocean and come up  in New York. Then relay to Chicago, then to the customer north of Chicago. And Yet it does it so very fast.

    Hope this helps
