Some have asked me, why bury it instead of re-using it, I have asked countless times what we could do with Nuclear Waste and I have been told it should be recycled, how is it recycled?

Thanks.

  1. i've seen a thing on history channel about them using plasma to burn hazardous materials at such a temp that everything is burned before it even has a chance to make hazardous vapors.

  2. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_rep... and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_fue...

  3. Nuclear materials from dismantled weapons are used in power plants. Spent materials are re-refined and used again, in larger quantities, in reactors. Once nuclear materials have been spent too far to reuse them, they are put in safe storage. There is not much opportunity to recycle nuclear materials because nuclear waste is radioactive and dangerous to humans.

  4. There are a number of processes that'll allow you to re-use spent nuclear fuel.  Mostly what you do is put it into a working reactor and let it get bombarded by neutrons from nearby radioactive substances, and this transforms it into plutonium--I think.  There are also small reactors that use spent nuclear fuel directly.

Note that much 'nuclear waste' is just stuff that's been exposed to the fuel: gloves, protective clothing, some shielding material, floor sweepings, and the like.

  5. Seems some military groups have the answer ,they just add it to their munitions and fire them off in some third world country.
