How is Prayer going to help New Orleans? ?

This storm is going to hit New Orleans, either directly head on, or at the very least a good portion of Gustav will take out parts of the city. No amount of prayer is going to prevent that. You know that is a fact. Would it not be better to get up off your knees and actually DO SOMETHING to help? Like making food boxes for those displaced by the storm, donating blood to help those injured, donating money to relief agencies. I have already donated blood, and dropped a check at the Red Cross. I've done something. Have you done something besides pray and hope for the best?

Prayer makes the storm a little bit less harsh. Prayer makes the storm spare one less person. Prayer does a lot of things but it is not a full out miracle maker. Prayer doesn't always make everything extremely perfect. If it did heaven would be on earth. That is why heaven is much more amazing than earth. God is the answer, he knows whats going to happen before it happens but he gives people the power to change it. God made humans willingly and he made them to make their own decisions, their own decisions to help.

They could stop the storm . But there are so many People that have no faith ,What do you expect . A world full of Sin ,disrespect, mental s***s -  The honest people in New Orleans have nothing to worry about

Even if the storm suddenly turned and went the other direction, would you believe it was our prayers that did it?

We should be doing things like that but God is ultimately in control. When we pray we are putting the whole situation if His hands. I know that God will protect the people of New Orleans and the surrounding areas. And yes prayer can change the outcome of this hurricane because God is in control.

Some people can't do those things, and the Bible teaches that through God, all things are possible. If enough people pray, he can and will turn the storm. I, for one, am praying that it hits it dead on, and floods it so badly they can't rebuild it. It's a sunken spot of land surrounded by water. We are wasting money and lives being there.

We pray for the survivors that they will find comfort in the Word of the Lord.

We pray that the Lord with give the rest of us the strength to provide worldly-comfort to those in need.

I wonder about the Evangelists who were praying for rain during Obama's outdoor speech.

Since that turned out to be a beautiful evening and now the Republican Convention opens as Gustav is whacking New Orleans, does that mean God is an Obama supporter?

Why not do what you can, which would be both, right.

You frame it as either/or, not because you are a good guy, but because you are a bad guy. N.O. could go to h**l for all you care. More trouble, more trouble. Go get another beer. [If you were praying you would at least be occupied and not acting infernally and HYPOCRITICALLY]

Maybe if we had started praying a few days ago...but it's too late now. It's already hit.

The best we can do is pray that the damage wont be as severe as they're predicting. And no, I really can't help with anything of the stuff you said. I'm in college and have no money, I donated blood earlier in August.

Also, I don't really trust the Red Cross since Katrina because of the embezzled money....

Ok, what makes you think people aren't doing that as well? Obviously people are taking precautions, just because they ask for a small prayer and have some positive energy sent to them doesn't mean that they are just sitting there scratching their butts! What is your problem? Prayer is not a bad thing but it should not be the only option.
