Nope, we're not talking about his back injury, rather his failure to win a tournament since the 2009 Desert Classic. Most players with Mc's record wouldn't be fretting - the 20-year-old has had ten top seven finishes on the European Tour - but is he sufficiently annoyed by his inability to win to do something about it?

Yes, McIlroy is trying to work on the mental side of his game too, according to the man himself. He told a press conference that " "I've pooh-poohed it a little bit in the past. I've read books and say 'Well, I sort of knew that', but I suppose it's the repetition until it's embedded in your subconscious. It can't hurt. It's something I'm definitely going to do. Most guys go to see mental coaches when they're playing poorly, but I want to be able to turn these top fives and top threes into wins." Dunno about the mental positivity, if he wants more wins Rory could do better than to work on his putting game!
