Question:

How is Spain in October?

I have read the best months to visit (for weather and not too many tourists) are May, June and September, but we would be honeymooning next October. We were thinking Barcelona, Madrid or maybe Donostia-San Sebastian? Any suggestions or input would be much appreciated!

  1. OH! October is my FAVORITE month in Spain - all parts!

The heat is finally gone and you still have good light, cooler days, fresh crisp nights, and no worries about clothing. Jeans and shirts and a jacket and that's all. You won't be able to swim in SanSe-Donostia but walking on the beach will be easy and cool.

San Sebastian is a very pretty little city, nice old center, clean and safe, just dripping with elegance and money.

There's also far less tourism in October so you don't have to deal with difficulties finding hotels, long lines at restaurants, and on and on. You'll love Spain in October. Happy Honeymoon!

  2. October is ideal weather. 20c almost every day. Avoid the cities and head south to the Costas.

  3. Hi

i live down in Andalucia right down in the south, in the last town of malaga. Personally, I would have to say that October is one of my favorite months. August is the worst. Leaving the house is almost impossible in the heat.

But if you come in October its still hot enough for the beach but its cool enough to go sight-seeing or to visit places.

If you come on your honeymoon then i think your best bet is Granada. I love granada and i think it is a beautiful city. You can also go up to sierra nevada for the day, although there is no snow in october, you can go horse riding up the ,mountain and walking, at the highest point of the mountain you can see morocco.

Wherever you decide to go, i hope you have a great time.

    Good Luck xx

  4. Great, avoid barcelona like the plague, nice city but full of eastern european thieves and scum. Madrid is good so is anywhere else really.

  5. spain in october is great. The lager louts are at home and a great holiday is had by all.

  6. Spain is gorgeous in October...fewer lines all over.  Not as hot, no need for a warm coat, but a sweater is a good idea.

Might I suggest Granada?  The flowers in the gardens are still really gorgeous!  (I went, the first time, in October - still remember it as gorgeous!)

  7. I would recommend Donostia-San Sebastian 100%! I just returned from living there and I absolutely loved it. (I visited both Madrid and Barcelona too, but San Sebastian was my favorite) There's absolutely gorgeous beaches, and the weather will probably still be warm, so you can lay out. (I was laying out in March!) Plus, there is amazing night life and the food is so delicious.
