  1. I'll make this answer simple (as it should be.) pure Iron (fe) is mixed with naturally provided coal or, to be more precise, "carbon.". This comes out as steel which is then polished with synthetic substances. To give it that permanent sort of 'shine' it is then plated with chrome (chromium plated.) The technical term for steel is chromium plated steel!


  2. Depending on requirement pure Fe is mixed with 0.2-4.0%of carbon and then alloyed with 2-20%Cr and any metal like Ni, Mn, Co, Ti, V to get desired  mechanical or technical properties in it.
