  1. It really depends on what you're looking for.  If you're looking for a really big city, Winnipeg is not for you.  It's got a smaller town feel with the conveniences of a big city, so it's a good balance.  Most people are very friendly (not like bigger cities) and are happy to help you out if you need assistance with directions or something.

On the negative side, Winnipeg can be a rough town.  I would stay away from downtown at night unless you're in a group, among other areas.  The weather is very extreme and you probably won't be prepared for our winters.  As far as tornadoes go, yes, there are tornadoes on the prairies, but I've never heard of one coming into the city and doing any damage, except on the edge of the city.  As a student, you won't be able to afford to live in the suburbs anyway, so don't worry about tornadoes.  That's something that affects the country, not the city.

Hope this has helped you.  Best of luck to you!

  2. Winnipeg is a depressed, depressing, dangerous , isolated  small town.

  3. Comparatively speaking, Winnipeg is not as cosmopolitan as other major cities here in Canada. This is either a plus or a minus depending on a person's expectations. Plus, is that there aren't that much traffic, hectic lifestyle, expensive real estate, and all the other disadvantages of a crowded city. Minus, less opportunities/jobs, less stores (IKEA will not come to Winnipeg because they only open stores in areas where there is at least a million population.) Weather-wise, the four seasons in Winnipeg are either extremely cold or extremely hot. Temperatures during winters range from -20 degrees celcius, to a mind numbing -40 degrees celcius. During summer, it can reach as high as 36  degrees celcius...We have our fair share of tornadoes, but not that much.

  4. my sister lived out there and she loved lt

  5. I've lived in winnipeg my whole life, I think its awesome! Theres always things going on, if theres not, go over to a water park or go see some movies!

The people are nice, The weather is pretty good. Not really, mostly those very small ones. Winnipeg is an awesome city, come and see for yourself!
