How is a 1966 ford mustang manual transmission supposed to look?

I have a 1966 mustang and the owner before me tampered with the clutch and really messed it up. He jury rigged the return spring and know I have no idea how it's supposed to be. please send picture or a diagram to help. thank you very much.

Go to your local library and ask where they keep the Chilton manuals.  You may be able just to Xerox the page with the schematic you need.

Buy the reproduction shop manual for the car. They are available through many Mustang Parts sources. Chilton's does not give the in-depth coverage dedicated to the individual vehicle that the actual shop manual does.
